Folks are still buzzing from the conclusion to the World Cup, including one direct message from a soccer manga author straight to a star player. Following Spain’s win in the finals against Argentina, Aoashi manga author Yugo Kobayashi put pen to paper to celebrate the achievement with an illustration of Spain player Lamine Yamal. The text in the image reads “The beautiful kingdom of football! Congratulations, Spain!” The original Aoashi manga by Yugo Kobayashi ran in Weekly Big Comic Spirits from January 2015 to June 2025 for a total of 40 volumes released in Japan. Titan Manga releases an English-language version of the series. Akira Sato directed the first season of Aoashi at Production I.G, with Masahiro Yokotani ( All Out!! ) on series composition, Toshio Kawamura, Saki Hasegawa, Manabu Nakatake and Asuka Yamaguchi on character designs, and Masaru Yokoyama ( Tsurune ) on music. Kazuki Yokoyama takes over as director for Season 2 at studio TMS Entertainment, with Manabu Nakatake, Asami Taguchi and Junko Yamanaka as character designers. Masahiro Yokotani and Masaru Yokoyama return as series composer and music composer, respectively. Shoji Hata serves as sound director. Aoashi Season 2 premieres on October 4, 2026.
