One highly-awaited title in the summer 2026 anime season was Clevatess Season 2, a dark fantasy series in which a Beast King and a resurrected hero team up to care for an orphaned child of the royal family. Its unique animation and gripping storytelling left fans eager for a second season, and now, thanks to the efforts of crew like director Kiyotaka Taguchi, Lay-duce Animation Producer Seiichiro Kuriyama, and Kadokawa Producer Kosuke Arai, the latest season is here! At Anime Expo 2026, we got the chance to ask them a few questions about moving quickly into the second season, the anime’s expanded scope of characters, and what made it so ripe for adaptation in the first place. NOTE: This interview was interpreted by Tomo Tran and has been edited for clarity. Could you please tell the audience about yourself and your role in the production of Clevatess ? Seiichiro Kuriyama : Nice to meet you. I’m Seiichiro Kuriyama. I’m the animation producer and I work with a company called Lay-duce. I’m a producer of different anime. Kiyotaka Taguchi : Hello, my name is Kiyotaka Taguchi. I’m the director and I also serve as the audio director of Clevatess . What I mainly did was work with the voice actors and make sure the sound was what we wanted it to be in the anime. Kosuke Arai : Hello, my name is Kosuke Arai. I’m the Kadokawa anime producer.
