Welcome to Daemons of the Shadow Realm and the recap for the eighteenth episode, “Fujin and Raijin.” In the previous episode, Gonzo ripped through Shingo’s warehouses and took many of Shingo’s underlings’ Daemons for himself. Meanwhile, Akio revealed himself to be a traitor and was eventually forced to release his Daemons from their contract after a battle with Gabby. Yuru tried to hold Shingo hostage but Shingo unleashed his Daemons, Fujin and Raijin, and quickly took back the upperhand. SPOILERS FOR Daemons of the Shadow Realm EPISODE 18 AHEAD Smoke Signals Years earlier, on the mountain near Higashi village, Asa’s father teaches her various smoke signals to implement just in case they ever get separated. Asa’s mother runs up and tells him to stop because the smoke might attract attention. Her father wonders how they’ll communicate when they’re off the mountain and her mother tries to teach her about using phones. She wonders which of her things, like her transit card and money, still work in the modern world outside Higashi and then frets that a Higashi agent might be watching them. Asa wonders why they’re not going back to retrieve Yuru but her father tells her to trust in Yuru’s strength. Suddenly two hikers show up, and despite Asa’s mother trying to explain that their old-looking garb is the result of cosplay, her father recognizes that they’re dangerous.
