The official website for the Doraemon series announced that the "Doraemon Birthday Special" episode will air in Japan on September 6 . While the character's official birthday is September 3, 2112, a commemorative episode is broadcast annually on the first Friday of September. The episode is titled "Konkon Daikonran! Yougisha wa Doraemon!?" (translated as " Total Chaos! Is Doraemon the Suspect?!" ). The official website provides the following synopsis: A 1-billion-yen jewel known as the Smile of Dorayaki was stolen from the mansion of Richie, a billionaire in the 22nd century. Surprisingly, the culprit captured on the security cameras was Doraemon! Falsely accused of a crime he did not commit, Doraemon is placed on the most-wanted list across all eras, and a bounty is put on his head. Aiming for that reward, a variety of unique bounty hunters begin to stand in Doraemon's way one after another! The main visual for the "Birthday Special" episode features a "wanted" poster of Doraemon. The Doraemon TV anime and film series are based on the original manga by Fujiko F. Fujio.
