To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Martian Successor Nadesico anime, the series launched an official website and X (formerly Twitter) account . More information about the 30th-anniversary project is scheduled to be announced in the coming year. The message on the X post reads: "Nadesico 30th Anniversary launching. Has it really been 30 years since those days when we laughed together, saying 'Baka Bakka'!? The records of comrades who fought, were wounded, and yet kept moving forward continue to shine within this ship even now. Everyone, please gather at the boarding gate. Another year of fully enjoying the world of 'Martian Successor Nadesico' is beginning!" The Martian Successor Nadesico anime series was directed by the late Tatsuo Sato ( who passed away in April of this year ) at Xebec (of the Fafner series). The TV anime aired for 26 episodes from October 1996 to March 1997. A sequel feature film, Martian Successor Nadesico: Prince of Darkness , released in August 1998. In October 2016, a special screening event was hosted to celebrate the 20th anniversary. As a kickoff event to celebrate the 30th anniversary, the "Starchild Night VOL.1 Martian Successor Nadesico" talk event will be held on August 28 at LOFT/PLUS ONE in Tokyo.
