Netflix Japan's official X (formerly Twitter) account announced today that a new live-action drama series inspired by Hitoshi Iwaaki's sci-fi horror manga Parasyte , titled Parasyte: TAMIYA , will premiere on Netflix worldwide in 2027. In Parasyte: TAMIYA , an original story unfolds from the perspective of Ryoko Tamiya, one of the main characters in the original manga, starring Shioli Kutsuna, known for her role as Yukio in the Deadpool series. Ryoko Tamiya played by Shioli Kutsuna The production team behind Parasyte: The Grey (2024) and Human Vapor (2026) is participating in the production of Parasyte: TAMIYA . Yeon Sang-ho is in charge of planning and co-writes the script in collaboration with Ryu Yong-jae. The South Korean production company WOWPOINT, which worked on both of Parasyte: The Grey and Human Vapor , is involved with development and production. Kensaku Kakimoto and Kazuhiro Nakagawa serve as the directors. Ryoko Tamiya, a former human and high school teacher, is a parasite who took a position at a school. After meeting the protagonist, Shinichi Izumi and the parasite Migi, she begins to consider whether "coexistence with humanity" is necessary for parasites to survive. "Ryoko Tamiya is the most challenging role I have ever played in my acting career," said Kutsuna.
