The official website for the upcoming TV anime Pan Dorobo (translated as "The Bread Thief") released a main trailer and visual today. The TV anime adaptation of Keiko Shibata's popular children's picture book series is set to premiere in Japan in October 2026. In addition to Ayaka Asai playing Pan Dorobo, the clip introduces the voices of Panya no Ojisan (the Baker) voiced by Junichi Suwabe (Keigo Atobe in The Prince of Tennis ) and Nise Pan Dorobo (Fake Bread Thief) by Aki Toyosaki (Yui Hirasawa in K-ON! ) for the first time, as well as the theme song "Pan Dorobo no Uta" ( The Bread Thief's Song ) by Asai and Suwabe. I picked up a copy of The Bread Thief picture book because it was so popular and highly talked about. When I turned the pages, I was completely shocked by the impact of the Ma-〇-I" (disgusting) scene and became totally captivated. I had been casting my net and waiting for the right moment, convinced that it would be adapted into an anime someday... and finally, that time has come! I have successfully managed to sneak into the audition and have been entrusted with the role of Panya no Ojisan. I will do my best with all my heart so that many of you can enjoy watching it.
