For the first time in the history of Puella Magi Madoka Magica , the dark magical girl series will be shown on the biggest of screens. An IMAX release of the upcoming Walpurgisnacht Rising film has been confirmed, opening in Japan on the same day as the film's standard release: August 28. A new visual announces the event, featuring artwork of Walpurgisnacht herself: Puella Magi Madoka Magica -Walpurgisnacht Rising- IMAX Visual All the staff from Rebellion return to SHAFT for the -Walpurgisnacht Rising- movie; with Akiyuki Shimbo as the chief director, Yukihiro Miyamoto directing the film, Nitroplus's Gen Urobuchi writing the script, aokiume designing the characters with Junichiro Taniguchi taking those designs and making them fit for animation. Yuki Kajiura is the composer on the film, and Gekidan Inu Curry returns to design the Witches' Spaces. The original cast is also set to reprise their roles from the third film and Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story spin-off series.
