Itsuro Kawasaki writes and directs Red Riding Hood: A Detective Story at animation studio BENTEN Film with character designs by Manami Minakata and Yuko Yahiro, art direction by Izumi Hoki and Hiroshi Kato, color setting by Tomoe Yoshimura, composition direction by Rieko Koike and editing by Daisuke Hiraki. Aito Aoyagi began publishing the original novel series via Futabasha in August 2020, with four volumes published in Japan to date. Futabasha also published a manga adaptation with artwork by Kanoka Tana from January 2023 to May 2025, with four volumes published in total. The series was also adapted into a live-action film entitled Once Upon a Crime in 2023. The film streams on Netflix.
