This September, Serial Experiments Lain collabs with fashion brand SEVESKIG to launch a cinema screening of all 13 episodes of the beloved anime. To celebrate the event, series character designer Yoshitoshi ABe has penned a new piece of art depicting the show's Wired-hopping heroine. Check out ABe's new art for the event, titled "SEVESKIG presents let's all love lain": Serial Experiments Lain x SEVESKIG Visual Screenings will take place throughout September at Ikebukuro HUMAX Cinemas, showing all 13 episodes across either three weekdays or one weekend. Three sets of screenings will be available. Additionally, more collaboration events are in the works, including a pop-up shop. More information will be available later in the month. Serial Experiments Lain premiered in 1998 and ran for a total of 13 episodes, quickly gaining international acclaim. The anime has gone on to inspire two video games, including 2025's Signal , and the 1999 manga The Nightmare of Fabrication by series character designer Yoshitoshi ABe. The series follows Lain, a teenage girl who is one of many to receive an email from a recently deceased classmate. To investigate the claims that the girl is not dead, but has rather transcended her physical form, Lain logs into the digital plane known as the Wired and begins to unravel its dangerous secrets.
