Back in 2021, it was announced that Yasuki Tanaka's manga Summer Time Rendering would be getting both an anime and a live-action adaptation. While the anime premiered the following year, news about the live-action project has gone somewhat dormant — until now. Today, the manga's official social media account confirmed that a live-action film is set to premiere in 2027, with Ken Ninomiya attached to direct. The fact that it was announced on July 22 (in Japan) ties in nicely with the date on which everything in the story begins. Ninomiya's directorial credits include 2017's The Limit of Sleeping Beauty and 2022's The Midnight Maiden War . No further crew or cast has been announced, but we can expect further updates via the manga's official X (formerly Twitter) account . Summer Time Rendering ran from 2017-2021 on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ platform. It has since received an anime adaptation, as well as continuations in light novel, manga and game formats. The story of Summer Time Rendering follows Shinpei Ajiro, a young man whose hometown is a small, isolated island called Hitogashima in Wakayama Prefecture. It's been some two years since Shinpei was last visited his hometown, but he is called back to attend the funeral of Ushio Kofune, a childhood friend and relative by marriage, who died in a seemingly tragic accident at sea.
