Toei Animation celebrated the 70th anniversary of its founding today on July 31. A special commemorative website was launched, featuring a video that looks back on the studio's history and works. Toei Animation 70th Anniversary Commemorative Video Toei Animation was established on July 31, 1956, as Toei Doga Co., Ltd., and changed its trade name to Toei Animation Co., Ltd. in 1998, which it remains today. Since its founding 70 years ago, the company has released many various works to the world, including 247 television anime series and 278 theatrical anime films (as of March 31, 2026), as well as TV specials, OVAs, and more. Among them are titles like GeGeGe no Kitaro , Galaxy Express 999 and Dragon Ball , for which new installments continue to be produced even today. There are also works such as Precure and ONE PIECE , whose TV series have aired for over 20 years. "I would like to express my deepest gratitude, as this achievement is a direct result of the daily efforts of our many predecessors and employees, and above all, the warm support from our many fans and all our stakeholders involved," said Katsuhiro Takagi, President and Representative Director said on the commemorative website. "'Anime with Love, World with Dream.' Without forgetting our gratitude for the past 70 years, we view this major milestone as a stepping stone toward our 100th anniversary.
